Making your own hand drum is a deeply spiritual and transformative experience. In many Native American traditions, the drum is more than just an instrument—it is a living, breathing extension of your spirit, a powerful tool for healing, ceremony, and connection to the heartbeat of the Earth. The process of crafting your own drum is a sacred journey, and I am honored to guide you through it. Workshop Overview This will be a 6-8 hour immersive experience designed to help you not only craft your drum but also connect with its sacred purpose. Here’s what to expect: The drum-making process begins! We’ll take breaks and move through each step with care and mindfulness. We will pause to eat and let our drums dry. After our drums dry, we’ll come together to bless our drums, learn traditional songs, and share the energy of our new creations. The drum making fee will include my time, extra materials for this sacred ceremony such as wood, coals, sage and food/snacks. You’ll be responsible for sourcing your own drum kits, make sure they come pre-punched (with the holes on the hide) and also buy a drum beater kit separately or with your kit. IMPORTANT NOTE: Since you'll be making your drum with me, your kit will need to be sent to my home. You have two options: either ship it directly to my address, or receive it yourself and then pass it to me in person the next time we meet. Please note that I need your hide at least three days before the class (soaked for a minimum of 8 hours). I'll need to soak it ahead of time, and it's best if I handle that part—otherwise, transporting a wet hide can get messy and difficult. To prepare everything properly, I’ll need both your drum kit and beater kit in advance.
